About the Event
In healthcare, nurses frequently are communicating not only with patients and their families/caregivers, but nurses also are communicating across the multidisciplinary team. There will be times when interprofessional team conversation can become difficult. The purpose of this course is to provide information on common mistakes in communication in healthcare among interdisciplinary teams, methods to implement during difficult conversations, and how communication is related to burnout in nursing.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify 3 types of common mistakes of communication among interdisciplinary teams in healthcare.
- Discuss 1 method of communication technique to implement when having difficulty in communication.
- Describe how communication is related to burnout in nursing.

Tracy Holder, RN, BSN, NBC-HWC, RYT-200, Integrative Health Coach, Resiliency Enhancement/Burnout Management Coach
As a 17-year bedside nurse and a board-certified Health and Wellness Coach, Tracy’s mission is to guide other nurses to find relief from burnout and to design strategies that allow life to unfold without sacrificing health and vitality. She has completed a “Compassion Fatigue for Professionals” certification and currently teaches a course at Stanford University, School of Medicine to help students build skills for healthy stress management.
