  • Barriers to RN Scope of Practice:
    ANA is seeting members to serve on this important committee.
    Applicants must be ANA members. Applications will be accepted through October 10, 2014.

    This Professional Issues Panel will identify and clarify barriers to RNs practicing to the full extent of their education, experience, and scope of practice (as set down by the relevant Nurse Practice Act), and guide the development of resources to address these barriers at the institutional, state, and federal level. The Steering Committee will consist of up to fifteen members and will conduct deliberations via virtual meetings beginning in November, 2014. The chosen Steering Committee will meet once or twice a month via conference call for approximately two hours in addition to email dialogue. Panel work generally takes approximately six months to complete.  All applicants not selected for the Steering Committee will have the opportunity to serve on the associated Advisory Group via ANA NurseSpace.


  • CA Statewide Director Action Coalition Gets Award:Mary Dickow
    Mary Dickow, MPA, Director of California Action Coalition will be inducted into the American Academy of Nursing on October 18, 2014 in Washington DC. Mary, a non-nurse, has been an outstanding supporter of nursing and continues to develop nurse leaders in California and nationally. We are proud of Mary and all of her contributions to the profession says Monica Weisbrich, President of ANA\C.


  • Campaign for Action-The Breakthrough Leaders:
    A program of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, the Breakthrough Leaders in Nursing awards will recognize and advance 10 nurse leaders. Each awardee will receive a Leadership Development Program scholarship package from the Center for Creative Leadership, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.   • ANF Releases Press Release on PTSD:
    On Aug. 26 the American Nurses Foundation announced the launch of an interactive, web-based post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) toolkit to help civilian registered nurses
    (RNs) better assess and treat PTSD in the nation’s veterans and military service members. Read Press Release.

  • ANA Establishes Ebola Information Page:Ebola Logo
    ANA has created a web page dedicated to Ebola. ANA is also working with International Medical Corps, a non-governmental organization that has established clinics and relations in Sierra Leon and Liberia. They are reaching out to ANA for assistance in recruiting nurses who would be willing to voluneer and provide nursing care in these two countries. In lieu of volunteering donations will be appreciated.
